Being a mom of a 5 year old and 6 month old, my days are extremely busy. My 5 year old recently had her first visit to the dentist and I was determined not to wait so long before thinking about oral care for my 6 month old. My son doesn’t have any teeth yet, but he is eating everything he can get his hands on and I was concerned about the bacteria in his mouth. A friend suggested I try Spiffies, www.spiffies.com invented by pediatrician Ray Wagner, which are individually packaged towelettes containing a xylitol rich formula and have been shown to be therapeutic for reducing bacteria in the mouth, as lower bacteria levels means fewer or no cavities!
I started using them after my son ate food or drank any formula. Spiffies are quick and easy to use, just wrap the towelette around your finger and wipe the gums getting rid of any food bacteria. Spiffies come in two flavors, apple and grape my son really enjoyed the apple flavor. My son is also teething and Spiffies have been know to soothe inflamed gums when cooled in the fridge much like the cool compress and massage. I tried this for my son and he seemed to really enjoy it.
Spiffies also offers a tooth -brushing liquid that my 5 year old wanted to try. I Can Brush is 100% natural and rich in the cavity fighter xylitol, it is fluoride-free and paraben-free. My daughter liked putting the liquid directly on her toothbrush and brushing. She actually started asking to brush her teeth more then twice a day.
