What the Varchar?
I love listening to new music but am a little bit picky about the styles and sounds I really enjoy. Unless I am at a party or in a club, I want music with great lyrics, a catchy tune and most importantly, something I can sing along with. Basically, I can listen to a new song a couple of times and if it isn't stuck in my head afterwards, I probably won't go out of my way to play it again. I am excited to tell you about Mat Kearney's new album "Young Love" because I have had it for a little over a week and have not taken it out of my car's cd player! I have a few favorites, although I honestly like the whole album. My most played songs that I can't get enough of are "Count on Me", "Ships in the Night", "Hey Mama" and "She Got the Honey". The whole family is hooked. The kids have been singing and dancing to "Count on Me" which is such a great, feel-good song. The lyrics are fun when you realize the verses creatively incorporate the ABC's and 123's without sounding the slightest bit cheesy. I appreciate that the lyrics are meaningful and don't include cuss words. It's great that I don't have to worry about playing the album around the kids. (Listen to and download the album on Mat Kearney's iTunes Page)
Mat Kearney was a musician that I knew his music before I knew his name. I had heard and really liked the song "Nothing Left to Lose". If you aren't familiar with Mat's music you've probably heard some of his previous hits on your favorite TV shows. Past songs have appeared on 30 Rock, Grey's Anatomy, The Hills, Friday Night Lights, Scrubs, NCIS, and numerous other television shows. Mat's been winning over crowds on tours with everyone from John Mayer and Sheryl Crow to Keane and The Fray.
