I made this just the other night. It was so delicious, I have to share! The original recipe is in "Home Cooking with Trisha Yearwood" which we received as a gift for Christmas. We loved the dish but changed a few ingredients to make it fit our tastes. ENJOY!
What you need: (the first 3 things need to be prepared first)
12 oz whole grain spaghetti *cooked
1lb ground turkey, *browned and seasoned with garlic salt, pepper
4 slices of bacon, *cooked and chopped
1 cup chopped onion
1 can 2.25 oz black olives drained, chopped
2 14.5 oz cans diced tomatos
1tbs dried oregano
1.5 cups grated mozzarella cheese
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 10oz can of fat free cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease a 9"x13"x2" casserole dish.
In large pan, saute the garlic and onion until the onion is clear. Add the tomatoes, olives, oregano, bacon and ground turkey. Simmer for 10 min. Pour half of the cooked spaghetti in the casserole dish and spread half of the tomato-meat mixture on top. Mix the two cheeses together and sprinkle half of the cheese over this first layer. Repeat the layers one more time. Mix the water into the cream of mushroom soup and pour evenly over the top. Sprinkle top with parmesan cheese. Bake uncovered for 30 min. Eat your heart out :)
