The Odd Life of Timothy Green

I had a chance to watch The Odd Life of Timothy Green with my 6-year-old daughter this week.I went into the movie with reasonable expectations. It was a Disney movie, had a good cast... I figured it would be pretty good. It was actually really good. By the end of the movie I was…See More

Brave: A Journey into Movie Magic!

I just had the opportunity to pre-screen the movie Brave with my 6-year-old daughter. It was a fabulous experience for both of us. I’m a big fan of Disney Pixar and Brave did not disappoint, continuing in the tradition of movies that entertain young and old. My daughter loved the animation, action and heartwarming bond depicted between a mother and daughter. I loved all this, but was also deeply touched by the wonderful messages the movie delivered and amused by the humor that Pixar so…See More

I had a chance to check out the New Balance Kids Series line of socks with my 5-year-old daughter. My daughter has been raving about them since she tried them on. The first thing we both loved is the bright colors they come in. With winter on the way out, it was nice to get a taste of spring with the variety of sock colors. My daughter kept saying how…See More

Living in the Moment

I thought about my Dad when I was chopping onions tonight.Growing up in my house, my Dad was the official salad chopper. It was an art to him, and no one else could quite get it right. It was all about the way you sliced, and how small you cut, he would explain to me. The vegetables had to be small, very small, but properly made to be so.Read & Comment on Original Post HereSee More

Been There, Never Done That

As my daughter grew from baby to toddler to little girl, I was always amazed at how much she kept me on my toes. Just when I thought I had mastered a stage, a new one would come along. However, when I closed another chapter in the baby book, I still walked away with a smug feeling...(more) READ AND COMMENT ON ORIGINAL POSTSee More

Be A Man?

I don’t know how I feel about the idea of my son growing up.No, I take that back. I feel a bit uneasy about it.As my 5-year-old daughter grows, I feel the normal pangs of motherhood pulling me closer to her and sometimes longing for her face to remain small and angelic, her questions to be simple and her hugs to come often. Read & Comment on Complete Original PostSee More

The Second Time Around

When I had my daughter 5 years ago, her birth sent me into a whirlwind of emotions. I was overjoyed, but also scared, anxious, nervous and exhausted (ok, I know that exhaustion is not an emotion, but for a new mother, it might as well be). At times, I was just bewildered with everything going on around me. For the first few months, I was so overwhelmed with everything being new, and wanting to capture everything and make sure everything was done right, that often, I didn’t realize that if I…See More

The Price of Maturity

When my daughter was about 8 months old, I was watching the local news one night. I remember the particular broadcast, because they were talking about the arrest of a local child molester. When they flashed the man’s picture up on the screen, my daughter looked up at the image and smiled. In all honesty, had I not been old enough to understand the language, decipher the story and have the background to know what was at stake, the image would have appeared to me as a kindly old man. The maturity…See More
